The Portuguese authorities have taken the fight against smoking to another level. Rather than just banning smoking, Portugal has decided to ban smokers in the subway altogether.
No wonder the subway is always empty, since 90% of the Portuguese smoke (Me et al. 2013).

Sweden worst in class

The OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) results from 2012 were released today, and have made big headlines in Sweden. Not that it is by any means news that Swedish 15-year-olds are underperforming compared their international fellows, but to get clear statistics showing that Sweden is the country that lost most in performance scores of all participating countries, makes it inconveniently clear.

And glancing the data it is also easy to spot that Swedish students perform below average in almost every single statistic measure. And it is especially interesting to do the head-to-head comparison with countries like Finland and Switzerland, that are often considered on par with Sweden in development terms.
